Shipping Policy

Last updated: July 2026 · Autoline International Ltd.

Worldwide delivery, direct from Japan. This policy explains how Autoline International Ltd. ships vehicles from Japan to customers around the world — the methods, terms, timeframes, and responsibilities involved.

1 Shipping Methods

  • RoRo (Roll-on/Roll-off): vehicles are driven onto the vessel — economical and widely available for running cars.
  • Container shipping: vehicles secured inside a container (shared or exclusive) — added protection, ideal for high-value or modified cars.

The best method depends on your destination port and vehicle. We advise the most suitable option at quotation.

2 Shipping Terms (Incoterms)

The term stated on your invoice defines what is included and where risk passes to you:

TermWhat it covers
FOBVehicle delivered to port and loaded in Japan; freight and insurance are the buyer's responsibility.
C&F / CFRIncludes ocean freight to the destination port; insurance is the buyer's responsibility.
CIFIncludes freight and marine insurance to the destination port.

3 Shipping Timeframes

  • Vehicles are typically booked for the next available vessel after full payment clears and export documents are ready.
  • Transit time varies by destination — often 1–6 weeks depending on route and port.
  • All timeframes are estimates and depend on vessel schedules, which we do not control.

4 Shipping Costs

  • Freight is quoted per vehicle based on destination port, method, and vehicle size.
  • Costs at the destination — port charges, clearance, duties, taxes — are the buyer's responsibility.
  • Any storage fees caused by payment or documentation delays are charged to the buyer.

5 Shipping Documents

After loading, we provide the standard export documents required for clearance, typically including:

  • Bill of Lading (B/L)
  • Commercial / Export Invoice
  • Export Certificate (De-registration)
  • Inspection certificate where applicable

Original documents are released once full payment is confirmed.

6 Tracking Your Shipment

We share vessel and Bill of Lading details after loading so you can track your shipment via the shipping line, and we keep you updated on estimated arrival.

7 Risk & Insurance

  • Risk passes to the buyer according to the agreed Incoterm on the invoice.
  • Marine insurance is included only under CIF; otherwise we recommend arranging your own coverage before shipment.
  • We are not liable for loss or damage occurring in transit once the vehicle is handed to the carrier.

8 Customs & Duties at Destination

  • Import duties, taxes, and customs clearance in the destination country are the buyer's responsibility.
  • Confirm your country's import rules — vehicle age, emissions, and steering — before ordering.
  • We are not responsible for vehicles that cannot be cleared or registered due to local regulations.

9 Delays

Delays may occur due to weather, port congestion, vessel schedule changes, customs, or other factors beyond our control. We are not liable for such delays but will assist and keep you informed throughout.
